Haven's binary star provides the spectrum that the algae prefer — the Federation discovered this accidentally when a decommissioned science module was repurposed for storage and the cultures inside thrived unexpectedly. The cultivation tanks now occupy three full sections of the station's outer ring, where they're visible through external observation ports as a faint blue-green glow.
