The Still Current

A pattern-shifting leisure gallery where soma vapors, drifting light, and quantum-tuned ambience blur the line between entertainment venue and collective meditation. Visitors report losing track of time — nobody's in a hurry to fix that.

Maintenance

Consumed continuously to keep the facility running. Starve it and it degrades.

SuppliedThe chambers pulse in slow, synchronized color, soma vapor drifts thick through the lounges, and visitors drift with it — some for minutes, some for hours neither they nor the staff bother tracking. The Current is running deep.
StarvedBut the soma reserves are running thin and the neural matrices powering the ambient synchronization have started to stutter. The Current feels shallow now, the colors a beat behind the room.

Upgrade Chain

The Still Current has no upgrade path — it is built once, at this level.

Lore

The Still Current occupies a null-gravity gallery near the Nexus's core, where dimensional fractures bleed just enough ambient distortion to make the light behave strangely. Voidborn Neural Soma is dispensed in vaporized form through the gallery's circulation system rather than consumed directly, and banks of Neural Matrix processors — the same substrate used in Nexus computing infrastructure — run the synchronized light and sound patterns that give the space its name. The Pattern Council officially classifies it as a cultural facility rather than an entertainment venue, a distinction the Council has never satisfactorily explained to outsiders, or, some suspect, to itself. Non-Voidborn visitors are welcome. Voidborn visitors rarely leave on schedule.
