Every weapon in the Crimson Fleet fires ammunition that comes from somewhere. That somewhere is the Arsenal. Eight hundred forty units of cargo capacity carry weapons, ammunition, fuel, replacement armor plates, and everything else a battle group consumes in sustained operations. The Arsenal is the most heavily armored logistics vessel in any navy — because the Crimson Fleet learned the hard way that losing your supply ship loses the campaign. Arsenal captains hold the least glamorous but most critical position in the fleet. A Crimson battle group without an Arsenal is a Crimson battle group with a countdown timer.
