Baling Wire

Named for the universal Rim repair material, the Baling Wire is the cheapest way to move cargo at speed. Oversized engines inherited from a decommissioned racing hull give it legs that freighters twice its price can't match, and the default afterburner pushes it past anything that isn't specifically built to chase. The catch: that afterburner burns fuel fast, and pilots learn quick that the choice between nine jumps at full speed and twenty-four without is the only decision that matters on any given run. The hold is respectable and the hull is not — experienced pilots treat the thin plating as motivation to keep the engines hot.
