Concordia

Named for the needle-hulled airliner that once crossed an ocean on Old Earth in under four hours, trailing a sonic boom and a drinks service. The Concordia is the Confederacy's anniversary project: engineers were instructed, for once, to make something beautiful, and responded with a hull so slender the passenger manifest doubles as a structural diagram. Champagne is served the moment the jump drive cycles, on the theory that no one books a Concordia to save money. The fuel economics never worked for the original and they do not work now. The Confederacy maintains the service anyway, on the grounds that some inheritances are about more than accounting.
