The Frostbite-class applies Crimson Fleet engineering philosophy to ice extraction: overwhelming force. The thermal lance system doesn't carefully extract ice — it cracks the target body open and scoops out what's useful. Yield per operation is the highest in its class, though the undersized cargo bay means frequent runs back to station. The weapon mount exists because ice fields attract competitors, and Crimson Fleet doctrine has opinions about sharing. Hull armor doubles as thermal shielding when the extraction system runs at full power — and slows the ship enough to stretch the fuel supply, which the Fleet considers an acceptable side effect rather than a design feature. Crimson ice miners are the only ones in the galaxy who consider "explosive decompression" a valid extraction technique.
