Futures

The Futures-class carries almost no cargo because its cargo is information. Market data, contract confirmations, price feeds — all time-sensitive, all requiring the fastest delivery possible. Speed 6 makes it the fastest commercial hull in the galaxy. The oversized CPU array runs predictive market models in transit. The tradeoff is everything else: 24 jumps of range means the Futures works regional routes, not cross-galaxy runs. No defense slots, no weapon mounts, and 65 hull points mean the optimal response to hostiles is to already be somewhere else. The Federation's high-frequency trading desks are built on Futures-class hulls. The tiny cargo bay holds exactly enough for a contract signing kit and a bottle of champagne.
