The Rim's approach to radioactive cargo follows the same logic as everything else: lead where it counts, fast engine where it matters, and departure timed so that questions arrive after you're already gone. The cargo bay is lead-lined. The documentation says "lead-lined" and does not elaborate on degree. The dosimeter is mounted next to the fuel gauge because the builders considered both equally worth watching and saw no reason to make pilots look in two places. Hazmat certification was conducted by consulting someone who had previously handled radioactive material, who said it seemed fine, which the Rim considers an adequate second opinion. The ship has had four previous owners. All four report they are fine. None specified which effects were not lasting. The name started as a joke at the shipyard. Three consecutive buyers kept it. The Rim stopped arguing after that.
