The Monopoly-class is the Federation's most feared non-capital warship, not because of its weapons — though those are adequate — but because of its electronic warfare suite. The Monopoly's energy drain systems siphon power from hostile ships, degrading their weapons, shield_operation, and propulsion simultaneously. Engaging a Monopoly is an exercise in diminishing returns: the longer the fight continues, the weaker you get and the stronger it gets. The Federation calls this "hostile acquisition." Pirates call it "the reason we avoid Federation convoys." The four utility slots run market analysis even during combat, because the Federation never stops calculating.
