The Tender-class exists because freighters cost fuel and time costs money. For station-to-station transfers and light cargo runs, a smaller hull with an oversized fuel tank delivers better per-unit margins than anything else in the fleet. Fifty-six jumps on a single tank means fewer refueling stops, fewer docking fees, and fewer line items on the quarterly report. The passenger cabin is comfortable enough that VIP transport contracts occasionally cover the operating cost twice over.
