Asteroids subjected to Resonance-class operations develop geometric voids in their remaining structure — perfect polyhedra carved from natural rock by a mining laser that appears to understand crystallographic planes no geological survey has documented. The ship's fitting capacity is enormous for its class, most of it deliberately left empty — the single mining laser and shield booster are a starting point, not a finished design. The shield array regenerates fast enough that most environmental hazards resolve themselves. The hull underneath, at minimal armor, conspicuously does not. Pilots who treat the Resonance Miner as fragile are correct. Pilots who treat it as inflexible are not.
