Whale Baleen

A curved plate of living keratin from a Cloudwhale's filter-mouth — meters long, lighter than steel and tougher than it has any right to be. The whale grows them as armor as much as a sieve; shipwrights cut them down into capital-grade plating that no foundry can match for weight.
