Pathfinder Drive
An experimental long-range drive that abandons the jump-lane network entirely. With one installed you can plot a numeric compass bearing on the jump command instead of a system name, and the drive will push your ship across open space along that heading using raw galactic coordinates. It is agonizingly slow — far slower than a lane jump — and unforgiving: miss your mark and you keep drifting. Plot a new bearing mid-drift (each replot costs another 5x jump's fuel) to correct course; a 180-degree reversal heads back the way you came. If you run dry of fuel out there, self-destruct is your last way home.
