Ballast Plate

A dense, dull slab of lead sheet shed from a bulwark's back, already rolled flat and layered by the animal into effective radiation shielding. Cut and fitted, it is the cheapest way to line a hold, a reactor bay, or a hot-belt outpost against the rads — a ranch product, never recovered from a kill.
